ABOUT

Dungeon Hill & Scratch Wood along with Great Solom's Wood is situated between Banstead, Chipstead and Woodmansterne in Surrey.
It is a mixture of Fields which Horses graze on, Scrub & Woods. Both Scratch & Great Solom's Woods are ancient woodlands and date from medieval times. Some of the Ash trees in Great Solom's wood are at least four hundred years old.

The vertical lines seen in the picture below could possibly be the remains of the medieval ridge & furrow field system & are seen in certain light. One strip would be owned by one man and would be ploughed by Oxen.
